Buffet Review

Went to Carlton hotel yesterday for international buffet.. So here goes....

Variety wise... Not a huge variety. Definitely not like Pariss , those with a lot.. Sashimi only salmon. But still ok cause I am full after trying everything

Caesar's salad.. of course good.. I got to toss my own caesar's salad....

Salmon sashimi not bad... I like this appetizer, tom yam tang hoon. Very yummy! The chinese cooked food like chicken, roast duck very nice!

Durian cake. Nice!! It's not very thick. Not the kind with durian pulp. The taste is light but just nice. Very fragrant too!

And my fav.. There's a grilled section. Just tell the chef what u want. There's chicken chop, lamb chop and sirloin steak.

I LOVE THE LAMB CHOP!!!!! It's so yummy!!!!! They grill it and serve it to you. It absolutely does not need any extra seasoning. No need for extra salt, pepper, ketchup, chilli sauce or even the usual mint sauce that goes with lamb chop. So nice!!!! Maybe next time I'll go back and just order lamb chop from the ala carte menu.. hee...

Aching tired

I just came back from giving pamphlets. Publicize a mid-autumn fest celebration. Money will go to Shan You Counselling Centre to help the elderly, needy, etc...

Went to every door to put the pamphlet. Higher chance of reading than letterboxes. Plus a lot of letterboxes will be locked... So I went to a total of 6 block. 600+ households. 170+ floor. Although I only walk down the stairs, I'm still damn shagged. 170+ floors leh!!!! On normal days I don't walk stairs...

Hai.. I think hdb architecture sucks for this kind of thing.... You know the old kind of blocks where only certain blocks have common corridor. Wah piang! there was this block with 4 flights of stairs. At each flight, there'll be 2 flats on each flood. Super tiring ah.. Although it's only 12-stories, it meant I went down 48 floors for that one block...

And some blocks have 20+ floors... faint....

Not forgetting lots of walking on normal floor. Some floors must walk super far. Must walk to diff blocks...

my legs and arms aching liao.. pamphlets damn heavy....

So about 8 of us finished abt 50 blocks....

Busy me

I think I'm a workaholic.....

When I started work, I had nothing except my work.. Main concentration on my job. Fridays and weekends will go out with friends....

Now? I'm starting to head towards my busy life again..... Got work as usual. Going out as usual. I'm going to do a little comm service tml morning. Signing up for some dance class (hopefully it hits the minimum class size so that it can start). Looking for other stuff to go for....

Haii... Feels like work is my "school" and i'm getting ecas again...

something more interesting.. it's quite fun to listen to pple talk in the bus. Today, I was listening to 2 pple talking about their family. Their house, their life, where they stayed when they were young. How a big family squeezed into a small house and life was happy, unlike now when there are so few pple in a big house...

Something more excting but bleah at the same time. I am in charge of a few stuff.. New roles and responsibilities. So I won't be very bored with nothing to do. The bad thing.. suddenly i got a lot of things given to me today.... haiiii

Comm service

Anyone wanna go Jurong and put pamphlets at every door?? Some publicity for fund-raising event for a counselling centre....

Well, I should be going... But the more the merrier.. The faster it'll be too... Anyone interested?

Fren smsed me about the thing and I just thought I should start doing something different. I don't think I'm not committed to go help out at some home very often. But this kind of small thing, I guess I dun mind...

Talking about me.. Fell ill the end of last week... Running nose lor... What else. I've been down with flu quite often. It's not good although my body will be better at fighting the virus.. Luckily for the wonderful polyclinic flu and cough medicine! Just 2 doses and my body felt much better! Even when I didn't sleep very well cause I stayed overnight at fren's house. Was the person who slept the most, but can't say it's super good sleep.

If anyone wants sleeping pills, I think flu and cough medicine works just fine. There was warning on the medicine saying 'May cause drowsiness'. And it's true!!

Slurp

Yummmy... Went for dinner with my work orientation programme mates.. About 10 of us appeared in total. One left early, one came late. We went to Carlton Hotel's jap restaurant.

If you like jap, the udon is nice!! It's the nicest jap udon I've eaten in Singapore... And the price is not bad.. Instead of ordering one bowl of udon, i ordered 2 mini size udons. The waiter said that 1 mini size is slightly more than half of 1 bowl of udon. And a variety of udons to choose from, I decided to choose 2 mini sizes!! One hot udon, one cold udon.. Yummy.... I feel like having another bowl now...

Must go next time. Anyone interested?? 1 mini-size udon is about + - 10 bucks. Normal size is about 10+. Got mini rice bowl too.. Hee...

Working gives u a very interesting perspective... This is what I thought of today...

Students have limited money
Students live mainly on allowance unless they work
Students are willing to treat people occassionally
Students don't calculate their own bill to the cents when they pay together
Students are willing to fork out a few bucks each to buy food/things for a gathering

Adults have more money than students
Adults earn their money by working
Adults are also willing to treat people occassionally
Adults can be quite unhappy if they paid a few more bucks to treat people to dinner instead of the dessert they thought they'd be paying for
Adults can be unwilling to fork out a couple of bucks each to buy food for a gathering

The irony of irony... Although I'll be picky with my money, I'm not that bad lor.. It's hard earned money with blood and sweat. But still ah, sometimes it's just interesting when you hear that pple will be unhappy. Colleague told me that if I ask a few pple to chip in to buy 2 mooncakes, they might not be willing cause it might be difficult to get the money back. SIGHZ. When did I have such a problem when I was a student? Just go up and ask for the money lah! 2 mooncakes max only 20 bucks. Each person won't pay more than 3 bucks anyway... Got so difficult? Ah well, I just do the thing. Email the bosses and tell them I need 2 mooncakes. =)

Bewitched

I like the show Bewitched!!! Well, I'm into this kind of romance movies.. And I like magical shows.. Plot is simple, love is simple, magic is simple.. But nice. Somehow I prefer it to Charlie and Chocolate Factory

Yesterday had off day.. Woohoo! I love shopping on weekdays! Such a luxury to do such a thing now.... Went shopping from 2-6.30 with aud and shiyun, 9-10 with wanfen. Bought more stuff again! But good buy. Each piece average out to be 20 bucks....

Went to Little Match Girl in the afternoon. After the magical movie, I went again. My goodness! The displays changed, the clothes changed, the bags changed. They changed everything within a few hours! And they changed into a sale!! Top for $10, bottom for $15. Gals gals, the sale until end of the month.

JC class outing

=) Organized jc class outing once again. Went to Settler's Cafe. See! Lots of pple! Happy happy.....

Hp

Dropped my hp more often these few days... Jia lat... Now when I shake my phone, can hear some tiny part inside making noise.. *oops* ah well, my phone is 2+ years old liao. Nokia 8310. I guess it should retire soon. Anyway I'm cancelling my 2nd phone line next week, so I can use that phone instead....

Was typing all my phone contacts into excel yesterday cause I was afraid that I'll lose my numbers if my phone dies... Quite a number stored in phone and not sim card. Was typing and typing and I realized that if I exclude some restaurant, taxi numbers, i have about 340 numbers!!!!

What to do... friends from jc, jc class, sec sch, table tennis, astro, nus, swaps, cousins, etc etc....

Watched the show... hmmm mixed feelings....
A little different plot from the story book. Willy wonka's more weird in the movie but crazy in the book.
But I like the garden with the edible grass, chocolate fountain and chocolate river
The oompas loompas is very funny..
And I think I liked verucca salt's song best..

Glamour

Went for swaps dnd last night.. Really makes me think of grad night in JC. A few girls in a room, dressing up, putting makeup, help each other to see and comment... Then rush like mad cause we'll realize there's not enuf time! hahahaha.... Really quite a nice feeling

Saw lots of pple.. I realize my perspective and thinking changes with the years. Last time, I'll try to help here help there, interfere here and there a little.. This year, I try not to go in liao.. At the end, I still helped to gather some seniors here and there, collect their money, etc.. BUT I guess I'm pretty good at "letting go" now...

Had lots of fun.. Talking, listening, hanging around, squeezing in hotel rooms.. Talking about hotel rooms. 16 stayed overnight in 2 rooms with 3 beds each.
Smaller room (less floor space): 3 pple on queen bed, 2 pple on single bed, 1 on floor
Bigger room: 2 on single bed, 5 on 2 combined single beds, 3 on floor

So amazing how we maximize the usage of space in the rooms... =)

Hope I'll get to meet everyone again!

Went for air rifle shooting. My best 10 continuous shots!! Got a few 10-points and one pretty bull's eye!

woah! I'm going to do a presentation tml to heads and directors... hope i dun screw up tml.. Wonder if I even have the chance to do my presentation properly without getting bombarded by questions in the first place.. Maybe I won't get to present at all. Maybe I'll just answer questions and questions

i have been wanting to blog for the last few days. But i dunno wat to blog about. My life seems so normal and wat not.... On weekdays, I go to work, and go home. Sometimes, I'll meet pple for dinner. Usually on friday nights, i'll be out meeting frens cause it's the best time to be out. It's the time where you go "Yay! It's the weekend!'

Weekends... I'll be usually out on sat. Sun, maybe out, maybe home to rest.

So wat's so special that I can blog about? dunno leh.... Maybe that i had insommia on sunday night. Tossed and turned in my bed for 2 hrs. Or I met certain frens for dinner.

Ok lah. thought of one. Went to my colleague's chalet on sat. SAF chalet at Changi. Maybe next time I can book one. But for now, I'll not book any and wait until my sis's 21st bday. That'll be 3 more years. I'll have a much higher chance cause it is dependent on when you last got a chalet. It'll definitely be nice to let my sis have a nice celebration for her bday. Maybe I can invite my frens over for the buffet too and stay over. Might as well..
