Lethal

It's 3.40am but I must blog this before I sleep. Just came back from my fren's birthday "party". The whole gang went to Thumper at Goodwood Park Hotel. Well, friends should know that I don't chiong and don't drink. So today's an eye opener... Here's why..

I only had a glass of Coke. The birthday boy had the following first: 2 bottles of Asahi beer and 1 bourbon coke. Then came the eye opener, interesting but lethal:
- Flaming Lamborghini
- Submarine (Tequila shot in beer)
- Waterfall (also flames, but flames flowing down a bottle that's in a cup)
- 3 tequila shots (No shot glasses. Just a pretty babe pouring straight into the mouth from the bottle)
- Barcardi 151 shot

Never seen all these before. Interesting to see the real flames in front of me, and not just on tv. But all are lethal. The poor boy started rattling slightly after the bourbon coke. But from the waterfall onwards, he was rattling almost non stop for 2+ hours. Anyway, it's hilarious to hear him talk so much and really entertaining. He ain't a noisy person normally. All were commenting that in one night, we hear more than what we heard in 1 year.

No drinking party for my bday.. nono... i'll 'fan nian'.. =)

Btw, buffet at Goodwood Park is quite yummy... hee..

Distorted

Today, Raffles, Goodwood Park and Marriott came over to sell mooncakes at discounted price. I went up and bought 20 boxes. But wait, none of them belongs to me. Help yj and colleagues buy.

Anyway, one of my colleagues gave me this strawberry yoghurt mooncake from marriott to try. As it is yoghurt, it'll melt cause there's no fridge in the office. From 11am to about 6pm, the mooncake ended up like that...

Can't find the best angle, but can you see that the base has gotten bigger and the mooncake is distorted looking? Yeah, melted yoghurt mooncake. Threw it into the freezer the moment I got home.

So, now for the tasting... hee...

Afternote: It's slightly sourish like yoghurt.. It tastes like... strawberry yoghurt lor!! Nice for pple who like to eat yoghurt, like me!

1st dance performance

Today is the day. I performed at my dance school's open house. It's my first dance performance, and perhaps the last... hee....

Anyway, it's a 'Salsa Casino Rueda' Performance. A guy will call the command that represents a set of moves, and it goes on and on...

Asked dad to take a video but it's too big and I don't know how to put video here. So, here's a photo with me inside!! Ok, I'm not very ego, but it was one of the photos with an obvious move.

rich man's day

Went to Raoul at Suntec with my guy fren. He had the imf delegate card, which entitled him to 30% discount. So, went a few rounds looking at all the patterns before he went into the fitting room. Tried about 10 shirts, ranging from white to pink to purple to blue to black. Finally settled on 4 shirts and 2 ties. Have to say that I quite like the choices (hee.. of course lah.. i helped to pick). Not everything there is nice, but most are pleasant to my eye.

Anyway, together with 5 shirts that his fren and bro asked him to buy with the discount, this was the largest bill amount I have seen in a shopping trip. $1077.70!!!! Woah... Never spent so much at a shop before, but I guess if u average it out for 9 shirts and 2 ties, it's less than $100 per item. Not too bad, especially for men's long sleeve shirts...

So, will anyone else shopping with me break the record???

Dress!

Today, I finally wore a dress again.... Bought the dress a couple of months ago, but I finally decided to wear it. The last time I wore a dress that I could recall was during sec 4 prom. It was a black dress. Looks quite ugly to me now... hee... So, it has been close to 8 years!!! 2 years, if u count a long gown as a dress. Borrowed and wore zhen's black gown on 15 June 2002 to mayball in cambridge.

So so, it's a special day again! hahahaha...

Anyway, I went out with my mom cause it's her bday. Went shopping around in Orchard, before a high-tea at Marriott Hotel. Ate lots and lots of cakes and food.. But my appetitite is getting smaller...

Tasty failure, Ugly Success

Tried baking my first cake...

1) Supposed to be chocolate sponge cake, but the chocolate wasn't the kind that melted nicely. Didn't blend together into the cake.

2) Cake didn't come off the tin nicely. Some parts got stuck. You can tell from below. Not very pretty.

Taste wise, still pass! Although the chocolate didn't spread out nicely, it was also special in a way cause there were bits of chocolate to bite into....

To my next attempt!! Maybe get a better cake tin. One with a removable base for easier removal

black black

Went to celebrate mom's birthday. Went to Amici restaurant at Holland Village. It's an Italian restaurant, that's under the HSBC dining rebate promotion.

Anyway, I have to say that the food's pretty good. 4 of us had escargot, mushroom soup, chef's salad, hawaiian pizza, crayfish pasta, squid ink pasta, tiramisu and crepe with ice cream.

My favourites:
- Pizza.. The crust is nice and thin, and the cheese used is very nice.
- Crayfish pasta. It's diff from other types that I've tried. The sauce is not pure tomato base. There's a slight tinge of seafood in it. It's very difficult to describe. I can't exactly say what the taste is, but it's good!
- Tiramisu. It's award winning, and it's definitely nice... Small, but ah well..

Anyway, first time I remember having a dessert with burnt orange peel used as flavouring. The crepe really had a nice orange taste in it.

And first time I had my teeth black!! haha.. ordered it specially to try.. Look at that black mess of thing.. hahaha

Worth going back again.. Anyway, I got some vouchers to use for the next visit!

helmet

Wore a motorbike helmet for the first time....
Figured how to get on a motorbike for the first time...
Rode a motorbike for the first time...
Figured how to get off a motorbike for the first time...

Everything was done clumsily. Totally blur... Suaku 24-yr old. Put on the helmet clumsily. Then cannot find the buckle to remove the helmet.. hahaha.. Then dunno how to climb the bike. Now, I know to find some metal rod thing....

Ah well. There's always a first time... Next time will be better!

I rode a motorbike finally!! Only 3 mins but who cares...

Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress

I watched the musical yesterday after strong recommendations from several friends. All I can say is... I like it!

The songs are nice... They are simple, the lines are repeated from time to time in different scenes and sometimes different characters. It's very interesting when diff characters sing the same lines with diff feelings and diff meanings.

Voice... their voices are good.. Kit chan's as good as ever... Always loved her voice. Not like those popular but lower standard pop stars...

Plot... Everything went smoothly. I didn't think that things were going very abruptly, so I'm good with it..

Props. I like the props. I like how they use the same background with slight variations to produce diff scenes. I like how they can use a background prop to let a actor enter or leave the scene nicely...

So, I'm glad I watched the show.... Now, it's time for wallet to recuperate and wait for the next worthy show

Day off

Finally took my elections day off today. Supposed to be yesterday but I had work to clear because my boss goes on leave for the remaining of the week.

So I did some baking today, with my naughty little cousin boy (pri 1) sitting beside me. He's still beside me reading what I'm typing....

Well, tried new recipes again. The first......

Peanut Cookie Posted by Picasa

More of the cny kind. But I think I need finer sugar. Recipe says caster sugar, but I prefer not to bite into the sugar when eating the cookie. Needs improvement...

Mini Chocolate Eclair Posted by Picasa

A few of the nicer looking kinds... Not very successful at making the chocolate look really nice and smooth on the eclair. But who cares! All goes into the tummy...

Tried making into shape of cream puffs too... =)

Simple recipe.. Can be done next time..

rules of the game

At salsa dance floors, guys who can dance really well often change partners for every song. They'll ask different gals (regardless if he knows her) for a dance. And I just happen to know one who looks really good in dancing. The guy really helps the gal to look good.... Anyway,

Rule of the game (in salsa):
做一朵被采过的花就好了。。。
